Introduction

The plant cell is has in its interior several organelles. Each of these organelles can perform one or more functions, all of which are of fundamental importance to cellular functioning.

Plant cell organelles and their functions

- Smooth and rough endoplasmic reticulum - enlarge the inner surface of the cell; favor the exchange of substances between the inner and outer part of the cell; favor circulation within the cell; store substances taken from hyaloplasma and lipid synthesis.

- Cell nucleus - control and regulate the chemical reactions that occur inside the cell; store the genetic information of the cell.

- Golgi Complex - participate in the process of cell secretion.

Ribosomes - act on the formation of protein chains.

- Plastos - accumulate substances used in plant nutrition (leucoplasts); perform photosynthesis (chloroplasts).

- Mitochondria - Provide energy for cellular metabolism.

- Vacuoles - act in osmotic regulation and storage of various substances.

- Peroxisomes - act on lipid metabolism and photorespiration process.
